VERSE NO. 19

      Once again the people of the Book have been addressed here that, after the long interval of a six hundred years, in which there came no apostle from God; Now once again we have sent to you a warner and bearer of good news.

      That interval between Christ and Mohammad S.A. was among the darkest of ages in the world. During that interval the religion of God was turned to a means of worldly interests, and monopolized by a group of priests and religious people, who turned monotheism to idolatery and polytheism. The standard of morals were turned to heresies and false and superstitious ideas!

      Some may take this verse as a proof against the Islamic idea that the earth will never be vacant and unoccupied of God's Khalif, or representatives. The answer is:-

      ``There might have been Saints (Imam) and religious leaders of high rank and standards if not apostles and prophets.''
